The number of girls rises among the recently born in Azerbaijan this year

As of July 1, the number of Azerbaijani population reached 8 483 300 and 3 924 800 of which are economically active population, State Statistical Committee chairman Arif Valiyev told a pres conference.

He said that 74 000 were born and 27 000 died in the first half of this year. In general, the population has risen by 47 000 in past six months.

In this period 33 880 marriages and 4 100 divorces were registered. It is interesting that boys had been 55% and girls had been 45% among the births but the indicators are rising in favor of girls now.

The newly born boys and girls are 54% and 46% respectively, APA reports.
