World Food Program executive director to visit Azerbaijan

The delegation led by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) Executive Director James Morris will visit Azerbaijan on July 28.

The State Committee for Refugees and IDPs told the APA that during their three-day stay in Azerbaijan, the visitors will meet with internally displaced persons settled in Galagayin displaced-persons camp in Sabirabad region, in wagons in Imishli region and those settled in new districts in Bilasuvar. The delegation members will get acquainted with living conditions of the IDPs.

Mr.Morris will also meet the State Committee chief Ali Hasanov and other state officials.

The WFP has long been providing food aid to Azerbaijani IDPs, and it will prolong the term of the relevant program for two years, from July 1 this year till June 30, 2008. The organization has allocated $15.66 million to Azerbaijan for this purpose.

The WFP provides every Azerbaijani ID family with 6 kg of flour, 450 gr. of sugar, 600 gr. of vegetable oil, 900 gr. of peas and 150 gr. of salt every month in the frames of the relevant program.
