Education and Emergencies Ministries conclude agreement on cooperation

Education Ministry and Emergencies Ministry today concluded an agreement on cooperation.

The agreement envisages training specialists for the Emergencies Ministry by the Azerbaijan State Architecture and Construction University and providing the university students to have practice in relevant offices of the Emergencies Ministry, APA reports.

Education Minister Misir Mardanov said in his speech that civil defense, security of public life stands on the same line with military protection of population.

This issue is of great importance in particular for Azerbaijan which is in war condition. Mardanov said there is a need to prepare a new conception for protection of population in emergency situations.

Commenting on the agreement, the Education Minister said the document envisages improving civil defense programs in secondary and higher schools, organizing training courses, dictionaries on emergency situation as well as supplying schools with civil defense facilities and laboratories.

Emergencies Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov said the investigation shows that the number of people remaining under the wreckage during earthquakes is the same with those suffering due to unawareness.

The Minister, therefore, considered teaching subjects on civil defense at school for the safety of life at secondary schools. Mr.Heydarov also said the Ministry needs specialists, "We need specialists.

Great majority of employees at the Ministry's Building Control Agency have different majors. The students of the Architecture and Construction University can have practice at the Ministry. It is also going to prepare awareness-raising materials on emergency situations to distribute at secondary schools."
