As APA reports, the project is funded by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office Global Opportunities Fund.
It is aimed at improving the capacity and increasing the professionalism of media representatives in the effective monitoring of central and local government activities.
The successful implementation of the project would contribute to the promotion of transparency and accountability in the implementation of government programmes and facilitate informed public discussion on government activities. The project is being implemented in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.
10 journalists will be selected to attend the 10-day study tour in mid-July 2006. The focus of the programme will be on: (i) introducing journalists to the good practices of the media observational role and the function of government programs; and (ii) increasing journalists' knowledge of monitoring, data analysis and reporting in line with European standards.
