Azerbaijanis constitute 8.1 percent of Moscow population

Azerbaijanis constitute 8.1 percent of the population in the Russian capital, Moscow, according to the statistics of the Civil Situation Acts Registration.

Moscow city administration reports that immigrant labor force from Azerbaijan is working in trade and public catering sectors. Totally non-Russians constitute 15 percent of the whole population in Moscow.

There are 14 million people in Moscow, 3 million of which are foreigners and citizens of the former Soviet republics. After Azerbaijanis, the Chinese (100,000) and Vietnamese (30,000) have large Diaspora in the Russian capital. 40 percent of the Chinese work in markets and 20 percent in service sector. Most of the Vietnamese engaged in wholesale trade in Moscow.

In general, immigrants in Moscow commit fewer crimes in comparison with local residents. Foreigners committed 4.600 crimes in the capital last year, which constituted only 21% (218,000) of all crimes committed in Moscow, APA informs.
