UNHCR seeks to attract donors for refuges and displaced persons projects

There is still large portion of population in Azerbaijan considered as internally displaced persons (IDP) as a result of "frozen" conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, the UNHCR report for CIS, released on April 18, says.

"UNHCR is looking forward to attract more donors and partners for new and continuing support projects in Azerbaijan," the paper said.

"One of the major goals of the United Nations High Commissariat on Refuges (UNHCR) in the South Caucasus is to study the situation and defining the need of refuges for continuing assistance," the document mentions.

The document also includes budgetary figures of the UNHCR representations for 2006. Thus, the budget of Baku representation is $3.564.813m, Armenian representation - $1.535.176m and Georgian - $4.304.911m. To compare we can note the Russian UNCHR representation has $15.609.817m, Trend reports.
