IOM Conducts Training for Government Officials

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) will start April 17 in Baku the 4-day training course on migration management for 23 migration practitioners from the Cabinet of Ministers, State Committee on Refugees and IDPs, MFA, State Border Service (SBS), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population (MLSPP), Ministry of National Security (MNS), Azerbaijan Airlines State Concern, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Parliament of Azerbaijan.

As APA reports, the training will provide overviews of 7 topics selected by Government out of 32 given in the EMM, focusing on how governmental agencies can adapt the EMM as tool for specific group training needs and for self-study.

The 7 topics selected by the Government are A Conceptual Model of Migration Management, Developing Migration Legislati, Migration and Labor; Migration and Security; Passport and Visa Systems; International Carrier Responsibilities; Refugee Protection.

IOM trainers are Vassiliy Yuzhanin, from Legal Affairs department and Sergey Brestovitskiy from the Moscow Mission.

Following the 4-day sessions, "Training of Trainers" will be organized for one-day for 5 migration officers that fulfill the criteria of EMM trainers. The Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration of the Department of State of USA provides the funding for this activity.
