Iran interferes in Azerbaijan's broadcasting zone

27 March 2006 [02:52] - TODAY.AZ
Local residents of southern region of Azerbaijan cannot watch some Azerbaijani TV channels, especially ANS and Lider TV because of Iran's interference in broadcasting zone.

Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov told the correspondent of APA about it while on visit in the southern region.

According to Mr.Abbasov the Ministry has not to be blamed for existing problems in transmission of these private channels. Private broadcasting companies need to technically improve transmission in certain frequencies and channels.

"We found out that, except AzTV and ITV all other private channels did not meet requirements, signals were three times lower than the required norm. We plan to prepare suggestions regarding this problem and submit to the National TV and Radio Council soon," Mr. Abbasov said.

"If a company engages in broadcasting activities in the republic, it should solve technical issues. When there is any gap in broadcasting zone external interferences are inevitable," Minister stated.
