Bird flu doesn't spread among dogs and cats

The state Veterinary Service under the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry denies information on possibility Bird flu spreading among dogs and cats, Ismayil Hassanov, the Head of the Veterinary Service, informed.

"These animals cannot be carriers of the virus H5N1," he said.

People can get infection only from poultry, wild birds and pigs.

"Danger of infection from pigs is higher than birds. Infection through water in reservoirs is impossible, taking into consideration carried out disinfection work," Hassanov stressed.

"People can considerably avoid infection by following elementary hygienic rules," he underlined.
