Radioactive device found in Baku

Law-enforcement authorities are now trying to remove the hazardous container from the area, AssA-Irada informs.

The level of radiation emissions from the device exceeds the norm 600 times. Representatives of health, internal affairs and defense ministries have visited the scene of the discovery, while specialists are trying to assess the extent of danger posed by the container.

According to the district police chief, Nazim Nagiyev, the container has been brought to the area by trucks which were deployed to bring sand to the area in order to dry local swamps.

"We are now trying to establish who has ordered to bring it here," the police chief said and added that investigation was under way.
