The Pope abstained from using the phrase "Armenian Genocide"

The Pope Benedict XVI met Patriarch of Armenian Catholic Church Nerses Petros XIX.

According to the Pope, "the Armenian people suffered terrible persecution in the name of Christian faith that is now known as Grand Massacre."

But the Pope abstained from using the word "Genocide". Previous Pope, John Pavel II used the word "genocide", but without specifying, what country conducted the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915, informs Armenian Yerkir edition.
