54 detained & extradited to Azerbaijan

"Extradition of people committed crimes in Azerbaijan and hiden in the CIS countries requires much time. In accordance with appropriate items of the International Conventions, additional documents are required from Azerbaijan to determine whether the people are persecuted on political motives or not. Major problem in their extradition to Azerbaijan is related to accepting of foreign citizenship by them," Hajiyev stressed.

According to Hajiyev, these people illegally became citizens of another country. In such cases the Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies raise repeated petition before the CIS countries to clarify the issue.

The most of addresses is to Russia, as majority of the people committed crimes fled to Russia. The number of addresses to other CIS countries is limited, Trend reports.
