The Second Congress of World Azerbaijanis is over

Heads of Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations in foreign countries, Tomris Azeri, Said Ismayilov, Ogtay Afandiyev, Mammadbaghir Aliyev and others stressed the importance of expanding lobbying activities.

Head of the World Azerbaijanis Congress Javad Derakhti applied to Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev for granting privileges to young Southern Azerbaijanis for study in Baku.

Derakhti also suggested erecting a memorial in one of the central squares of Baku symbolizing the union of World Azerbaijanis.

It was decided to improve the coordination of Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations, consider more modern methods of publicizing all the truths on Azerbaijan, terrorism and genocide acts committed against our people as well as reinforce relations with foreign Diaspora organizations.

The congress participants adopted decisions on establishing a working group to make action conception of Azerbaijani Diaspora, working a joint action strategy of Azerbaijani and Turkish communities.

Resolution was adopted in the end of the discussions. The participants also adopted an appeal to Azerbaijan's President, world Azerbaijanis as well as issued a statement protesting against Armenian's aggression against Azerbaijan, acts of genocide against people committed by Armenians.

In addition, there was an appeal to the international organizations regarding destruction of Azerbaijani historic and cultural heritage in the occupied territories and other documents.

President Ilham Aliyev was elected chairman of the World Azerbaijanis Coordination Council and Mahmoud Karimov chairman of Managing Staff of the Council.

A party was given for the honor of the guests. The visitors intend to visit different parts of Azerbaijan after the congress.
