Fuad Musayev: "AFFA is guilty for our national team's playing in the same group along with Armenia"

"It's all fault of AFFA that, our national team will play in the same group along with Armenia. If our national team played well in group stage of world championship and increased its rating, it would be in the same pot with Armenia. It didn’t play well and was in the last pot. But aggressors played well and go forward. So, we are in the same group in lot drawing. It has not happened in recent 15 year”.

This statement was exclusively given to APA by ex-president of AFFA Fuad Musayev. He expressed his attitude to draw results of group stage of 2008 Europe championship held in Swiss town of Montreux yesterday.

He said that it is impossible to hold the match between Azerbaijan and Armenia in neutral stadium, noted that the match may be held in closed stadium in either Yerevan or Baku without fans in stadium: "I don’t remember UEFA has held any match in neutral stadium. I think claim of any national federation to UEFA can cause sanction. It is not politic but football. Win if you can! When the two presidents meet, nothing is odd. What to do, it is our destiny."

Ex-president of AFFA recalled that our national team had gained points from its rivals in the group: "When I was the president of AFFA, we played against Poland in Trabzon and gained a point. Portuguese was able to get rid of losing the match. As for the participants of world championship-Serbia and Montenegro, we gained 4 points from the national team of this country defeating them 2:0 in Baku and played 2:2 in the visit. The government didn’t help the federation in that time. But now it is not so, let them gain points."

"If we do not take into account Poland, Serbia, Montenegro and Portuguese, our national team is in middle-level group. Only abovementioned teams are strong. As to Belgian football, we have seen it in “Neftchi”-“Anderlekht” match in Championship League". This statement was given to APA by former chief coach of our national team Vagif Sadigov. V.Sadigov says our national team is capable to play in the same level with Kazakhstan, Finland, Armenia and Belgium, but he notes the principal match will be with Armenia: "We defeated Armenians in the club level; we must triumph over the invaders in the level of national teams. I believe the victory over the Armenians. Our national team will win and will make its fans happy."
