WB allocates $50,000 for struggle with penetration of bird flu into Azerbaijan

"The World Bank (WB) allocated $50,000 within the measures on struggle with penetration of bird flu into Azerbaijan," Ismayil Hasanov, the head of the State Veterinary Service under the Agriculture Ministry, said on Tuesday

According to Hasanov, taking into consideration existence of over 800 veterinary points (25 veterinary points in every region), the funds will be spent first on purchase of special suits, disinfectant agents, additional diagnostic tests, Trend reports.

Hasanov said that at present the Service had 300 similar tests and should acquire new ones. "We will hold similar tests regularly, as there is special necessity of these measures," he added. "We cannot guarantee that the virus will not penetrate into Azerbaijan, but we ensure that ecisive measures will be taken at the first appearance of the disease to prevent its spreading in the country," the head of the Service stressed.
