Health Ministry holds a meeting on preventive measures against bird flu

As Trend reports referring to the press release spread by Ministry on Thursday, the meeting concerned the measures taken by the specialists of the Agriculture Ministry, Health Ministry, Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry in this regard, including 7 monitoring acts shown absence of bird flu in Azerbaijan.

Besides, the participants of the event noted that in case of appearance of virus at the territory of the country there were all necessary means, including, disinfectant agents, protection suits, respirators and gloves. There are also 9 special machines and 200 sprinkling devices delivered from Russia for disinfection.

Azerbaijan also purchased a machine for burning of sick birds. Appropriate trainings are organized for specialists to be involved in the work. The specialists of the State Veterinary Service under the Agriculture Ministry are on visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (AR) to assist in taking of preventive measures. The authorities also sent protection suits to Nakhchivan AR and imposed ban on poultry product import from Turkey and Iran.

The messages say that the Health Ministry signed a special decree on training of medical personnel. Besides, the establishment purchased disinfectants against bird flu and the most effective medicine preventing the disease among people Tamiflu (50 packages).
Azerbaijan is currently working with international organizations, including, the U.S. Protection Department, on strengthening of the virology laboratory. Besides, necessary serums are expected to be imported to the country for bird flu diagnostics.

The meeting also stressed that the main preventive work was strengthening of sanitary and quarantine service at check-points, disinfection of cars entering the country, passenger examination.
