Azerbaijan since yesterday has Ministry of Emergency Situations

President Ilham Aliyev signed yesterday a decree establishing Ministry of Emergency Situations. The State Control over Safety in Industry and Mining Control Committee, Committee of Material Resources at the Cabinet of Ministers have been cancelled, their functions , their offices and subordinate organizations were transfered under the new ministry.

Morever, the Ministry of Emergency situations incorporated the Civil Defense Office of Defense Ministry, State Fire Safety Office of Interior Ministry, State Water Rescue Service, special plant "Izotop" of Communal Flat Department of Executive Power of Baku and United Management of Constructed Objects and storehouses of the Management of State Construction and Architecture Committee.

The Ministry is a central executive body ensuring protection of population from natural disasters, man-caused accidents and fire, solving the issues on removing the results of such cases, as well as pursuing state policy in the field of civil defense, ensuring coordination of the activity of central and local authorities, other institutions and organizations on rescue and restoration.

The Cabinet of Minister is charged within a month to prepare its offers on the draft of the regulations on Ministry for Emergency Situations, structure of the Ministry, estimate its expenses, number of employees and submit to the President.
