Memorandum on cooperation in educational sphere to be signed between Azerbaijan and UNESCO

The issue concerning expanding the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO in educational sphere will be focused on especially in the frame of the visit of UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura to Baku.
APA was informed from the Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation. Conference on “Reforming education in Azerbaijan for regular development” was held at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris on 6 June this year. This was the first conference in the history of UNESCO that was held separately on the education of a country.

The next conference in this direction “UNESCO-Azerbaijan: education problems and perspectives of Azerbaijan” will be held in Gulustan palace tomorrow with participation of UNESCO Director General Mr.Koichiro Matsuura and Azerbaijani first lady Mehriban Aliyeva. Azerbaijan is implementing projects on inclusive education (involvement of defective children into the process of education at normal schools), “education for everyone” associative education and etc. jointly with UNESCO. Increasing the number of such projects will be focused on in the conference.

President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva and UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura will address the conference too. The problems concerning the education of the internally displaced children and the measures implemented in this direction will be touched on in the conference.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will receive UNESCO Director General Mr.Koichiro Matsuura tomorrow. Memorandum on cooperation in educational sphere will be signed after the meeting.
