14 football clubs to compete in XIV Azeri national championship

A sitting of the Executive Committee (EC) held in the headquarters of AFFA yesterday.
Only one question was included in the agenda of the sitting the veteran football player Isgandar Javadov was not permitted to participate in. The EC members held discussions on the official appeal made by the MOIK club to AFFA in connection with participation in the championship in the sitting lasted about half an hour.

The general secretary Fuad Asadov informed in the sitting the AFFA president Ramiz Mirzayev also took part in 13 clubs have made official appeal to the federation up today in connection with participation in the championship.

According to the words of F.Asadov noting that 16 clubs will participate in the XIV championship of the country according to the regulations, only 13 clubs responded positively to the federation in the intended time: “We have officially appealed 3 times till now to all clubs having right of playing in the group of strong teams for sending to AFFA affirmation letter on participation. 13 clubs responded positively to our appeal on July 27.

The “Karat”, “Shamkir” and “Energetic” clubs informed that they will not play in the championship. In this case according to the regulations of AFFA, representatives of the first group are invited instead of the club which refused to play in the group of strong teams”.

F.Asadov informed that the clubs holding 3rd -7th places in the first group were appealed in connection with playing in the group of strong teams. But the representatives of the first group did not respond to AFFA in connection with participation in the group of strong teams till July 27: “We had to appeal to the clubs again. According to the rules, the winner of the third place “Khazar-Lenkeran-2” can not participate in the group of strong teams.

The “Anshad Petrol” club of Neftchala informed that they do not want to play and the “Vilash” club of Masalli informed that they want to compete. But they were not permitted to participate in the championship because they do not have sponsors, bank guarantee and a stadium having capacity of 3 thousand seats. Other clubs noted their financial problems and informed that they can not participate in the championship”.

F.Asadov noted that in spite of it, the MOIK club again made official appeal to AFFA in connection with its intention to play in the group of strong teams. According to the decision made in the sitting of EC, MOIK will participate in the championship. Casting lots of the XIV national championship to start on August 12 will be held on August 5. The championship will consist of 14 tours and if there is a need, a “Gold game” will be held for defining the champion as it was done in the last season.
