Norwegian embassy and Eurasia Foundation gave $ 56.154 to five organizations

The embassy of Norway in our country allocated grants for the local organizations in two phases together with the Eurasia Foundation for the purpose of supporting the development of civil society and democratic institutions in Azerbaijan.
According to the information given to APA from the embassy, 5 organizations were awarded with $ 56 thousand 154 of grant in the first phase. These are the Center for Political and Economic Reforms, “Himayadar” Magazine, Association of Women’s Right protection named after D.Aliyeva, Azerbaijani-American Youth Social Association and “Goycha Golu” Women’s Society.

The embassy and Eurasia Foundation awarded the Center for Political and Economic Reforms with $ 6.486 for the project named “Programme of Financial Capacity Building for NGOs”. It is intended to conduct 4 trainings in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan in the frame of this project. The “Himayadar” Magazine was awarded with $ 10.908 of grant for executing the project named “Monitoring of Implementation of Anti-Corruption law in Azerbaijan”.

The Association of Women’s Right protection named after D.Aliyeva was given $ 16.060 of grant for executing the project named “Preparation of Public Advocates and Establishment of Election Monitoring Groups”. The goal of the project is to increase voter participation in the 2005 parliamentary elections. The Azerbaijani-American Youth Social Association was awarded with $ 12.860 of grant for the project named “Supporting Youth Voting Activity”. The goal of the project is to increase civic activism among young people in five regions of Azerbaijan by encouraging youth to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The “Goycha Golu” Women’s Society was awarded with $ 9.840 of grant for realizing the project named “Enlightening youth from regions on the upcoming parliamentary elections and ensuring their active participation”. The general amount of the grants awarded in the second phase formed $ 25.300. The Center for Political and Economic Reforms was given the same amount of grant in the second phase. The Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization were awarded with $ 6.300 for the project named “Youth for Democratic Elections”.

The organization will realize this project with the purpose of increasing civic activism and combating voter apathy among young people in four regions of Azerbaijan by encouraging youth to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The Institute for War and Peace Reporting was awarded with $ 12.514 of grant for realizing the project named “Print Media Support”. The goal of the project is to increase the quality of print media in Azerbaijan through a series of trainings to improve the professional skills of local journalists.
