Confirmation process of regional development plan of Baku city is at the final phase, deputy chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Dovletkhan Dovletkhanov told journalists.
According to him, the project has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for confirmation.
Dovletkhanov also spoke about the demolition works in the capital: “A decision will be taken after confirmation of the related project. Development Plan of Baku envisages building of new residential districts and demolition of several areas in the centre of the capital. It’s mainly planned to demolish low-price and low-rise houses from the State Drama Theatre towards Academy of Sciences. At the same time, new park is planned to be constructed”.
The committee official added that there are places in Baku, where houses do not meet the welfare of the people, prevent implementation of infrastructure projects.
“These are mainly territories called Khutor, Alatava, demolition of these houses there is inevitable. Another direction is from Ag Sheher towards Zigh. 50 000 people will live in Ag Sheher in future. According to the project, the houses will be demolished towards Zigh, new residential district will be built,” he said.
