Various penalties up to the most stringent ones are used against bus drivers who violate traffic rules, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Transport said on October 1 while commenting on the frequent traffic violations.

According to the ministry, the form of punishment against the carrier operating on a particular route is determined based on the severity of the violations. Both a penalty and complete removal of the driver's route can be applied, and this work is ongoing, the ministry said.

In order to combat violators of the rules of passenger traffic, along with receiving complaints the ministry has conducted periodic raids.

The most common violations committed by drivers include speeding, stopping in the wrong places, mistreatment of passengers, etc.

The ministry said that the violation of traffic rules, along with posing a threat to the safety of bus passengers, leads to traffic jams on the streets of the capital Baku, which has a negative impact on normal traffic conditions.
