/AzerNews/First ever pipeline stent implantation during aneurysm endovascular surgery (surgery on the blood vessels) has been conducted in Azerbaijan.
A 24-year-old patient, who has survived brain hemorrhage twice, was diagnosed with "large aneurysm at the highest point of the brain supplying carotid artery."
A pipeline stent was installed in his artery supplying the brain with the help of a 2 mm endoscope through opening of an artery in the patient`s leg.
This enabled to prevent re-bleeding in the brain of the patient.
The surgery was implemented by the guidance of Professor Ahmed Mamish (Turkey) and the presence of Professor Kirill Orlov, clinic doctors and specialists of the Republican diagnostic and treatment center - neurosurgeon Rafael Bayramov and neuropathist Lala Huseynova at the Central Hospital of Oil Workers.
Recall that closed endovascular surgery (surgery through blood vessels without opening the skull) during aneurysm, which appears as one of the results of brain bleeding, through implanting pipeline stent is allowed only in the developed medical centers of the world.
