Employee of the Azerbaijan Ombudsman`s Office attended int'l conference

Employee of the Azerbaijan Ombudsman`s Office Rashid Rumzade has participated in an international conference in the Netherlands.

Co-hosted by the Government of the Netherlands, UNFPA and the the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights provided an opportunity to assess the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action through an examination of the nexus between human rights, equality, equity and population and development, including in the key areas of gender, empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Using a multi-stakeholder approach, governments, civil society organizations, human rights defenders, human rights experts and UN agencies discussed human rights developments in the context of the ICPD PoA implementation over the past two decades.

The conference identified successful stories and lessons learned as well as identifying remaining gaps, challenges, emerging issues and priorities for the future to ensure that the ICPD beyond 2014 agenda, as well as the broader development agenda beyond 2015, advance the realization of human rights without discrimination.
