
Birdhouses that have been made on the basis of a sketch of the winner of a “Birdhouses design" competition announced in 2012 were installed in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve of Belarus.
Up to 30 birdhouses were installed in the Reserve.
Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve makes up an inseparable part of the natural heritage of Belarus and Europe. It was set up in 1925 to preserve the unique landscape of an area covered with broadleaved and spruce woods and study the natural processes that take place in this area.
Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve has rich flora and fauna, including 52 species of mammals, 217 species of birds and 10 species of amphibians.
IDEA birdhouses have already been installed in Bishkek and Moscow.
IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) announced a competition under the name of "Birdhouses design” on the occasion of International Migratory Birds Day on May, 2012 to increase awareness of public in the protection of birds and promote a special careful attitude to the nature. More than 100 sketches were submitted to the competition.
