The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Pascal Monnier, Attache for culture and cooperation Lorenzini Vincent and the head of the mission on cooperation in education Charlotte Payen visited Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), the BHOS reported to Trend.

The BHOS rector Elmar Gasimov told guests that the educational institution was established on November 29, 2011 via a decree of President Ilham Aliyev and was assigned the status of a state institution under SOCAR.

The School was established with the purpose of meeting the needs of SOCAR and industrial enterprises of the dynamically developing country in highly qualified professionals, who speak English, have good knowledge and may get involved in international projects both in Azerbaijan and abroad, the rector said.

Informing visitors on the work done with regards to the educational process and expansion of BHOS's international ties, Gasimov noted that, despite the fact that the Baku Higher Oil School was established in 2012, it became an absolute leader in terms of enrollment of students, according to the ranking of higher education institutions prepared by the State Students Admission Commission.

Highlighting the fact that education at the BHOS is conducted in English, the rector said that a cooperation agreement was signed with the British University Heriot Vatt for this purpose, thus providing its graduates with two diplomas.

Gasimov said that last year the BHOS offered two enrollment programs - 'Petroleum engineering' and 'Chemical engineering', whereas starting this year the third program - 'Process Automation Engineering' will be introduced as well.

Talking about developing relations between Azerbaijan and the French government in many areas, including in the field of science and education, Gasimov said that a clear example of this is the fact of the French school to be opened in Baku in the near future on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and with SOCAR's support.

Stressing the great interest in academic and educational system of France, the rector noted that the cooperation agreement has been reached between French company 'Total E & P Azerbaijan', well-known scientific and educational institutions of France and Baku Higher Oil School.

Azerbaijan and France enhance their cooperation in energy, political, economic, social, cultural and educational sectors day to day, French ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Monnier said.

Touching upon successful projects implemented by Azerbaijan, the ambassador praised the establishment of Baku Higher Oil School, meeting the conditions and requirements of the international education system.
