Azerbaijan,Georgia,Turkey in paper on BTK railway project - UPDATE

Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia have signed a protocol on acceleration of construction works in the BTK railway in the meeting of the countries’ delegations led by Transport Ministers Ziya Mammadov, Bineli Yildirim and George Kvirikashvili.

Praising the role of the railway, Ziya Mammadov noted it is not only an economic but also strategic project. The project will connect the continents.

Turkish Minister said that after the BTK railway we will implement a railroad project between Kars and Nakhchivan.

George Kvirikashvili thanked the Azerbaijani Government for financial support.

Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will discuss the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project in Istanbul in the fifth meeting of the Trilateral Coordination Council on Friday-Saturday.

The sides will exchange of views on the reforms in the transport infrastructure, development of the relations between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, handling potential of transit cargo, current situation of the project and etc.

Azerbaijani delegation is headed by Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov.
