CIS Information Council chooses new chairperson in Baku

Director General of Russian news agency ITAR-TASS Sergey Mikhaylov has been elected as new chairman of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Information Council) at its 16th meeting in Baku.

“Thank you very much for the confidence you put in me. I think the CIS Information Council will further effectively work and develop cooperation among national news agencies of the CIS member states,” said Mikhaylov.

He noted the participants of the Baku meeting were received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

“The Head of State attaches great importance to developing information technologies in the country. I think this is great support for the development of the information sector in Azerbaijan,” the ITAR-TASS Director General said.
