Project on NGOs discussed

The “National Action Plan for the development of NGOs” has been discussed. This document was developed by the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Council, MP Azay Guliyev stressed the importance of developing a national program and its role in the development of civil society. He also spoke about the work done by the Council in recent years, work for development of the NGOs.
It was noted that the national program, to the development of which is involved the local and foreign experts and specialists in the field of NGOs, envisions development of four directions.

The first of these provides for a legal framework for the activities of NGOs. In particular, the Council has developed and submitted for consideration by Milli Majlis of the three bills in this field. The second direction involves identification and diversification of sources of funding for non-governmental organizations, and it is also the field where there is much work.

The program also envisages the development of international relations and cooperation of Azerbaijani NGOs with other organizations. The document includes also the training of personnel. It was emphasized that the Council has plans to use the schools for training, which is reflected in the program. As is noted, the program defines a long-term development vector scope of NGOs.

The event continued to debate and exchange of views on the program.
