Police department reports about situation in Ismayilli region

The current situation in Ismayilli region is calm and no serious incidents have recently been observed. Additional information will be provided to the Interior Ministry, head of the Ismayilli Police Department Nizami Gojayev told Trend on Thursday.

The head of Executive Power Nizami Alekperov is currently inspecting the area where the events took place. He is being accompanied by MPs and other officials who arrived from Baku, Ismayilli authorities told Trend.

According to information provided by the first deputy chief of Ismayilli Rafael Ahmadov, today a group of residents held another protest, throwing stones at the police officers.

An incident occurred in Ismayilli at 21:30. As a result, the Chirag hotel and four different passenger cars were burnt. Two people were arrested and four injured.

The city of Ismayilli is in the north-east of Azerbaijan, 174 kilometres away from Baku.
