50th anniversary of Elysee Treaty marked in Baku

An event on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Elysee Treaty has been held today in the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.

"The Elysee Treaty boosts the politics of reconciliation between peoples," French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier, who attended the event, said.

He said it created the Franco-German Office for Youth and encouraged the twinning of cities, schools and resigns. "This cooperation has endured; remarkable cultural initaitves ensued, including the creation of the French-German television channel Arte and the establishment of a common literary prize, the Genshagen Foundation Award in 2010," Meunier said during his speech.
