Driving skills of drivers should be monitored periodically

07 January 2013 [10:34] - TODAY.AZ
Those receiving a driver's license in Azerbaijan have to periodically check their driving skills, but this is not stated in the laws of the country, chairman of the parliamentary committee on social policy Hadi Rajabli told Trend.

According to him, autodromes should be opened in the country for this purpose in the first place.
According to the chairman, cooperation with international organizations may bring good results regarding this matter.
"900 - 1,000 people annually die in road accidents in Azerbaijan and over 3,000 get injured and become disabled. This requires measures aimed at strengthening the traffic safety," Rajabli said.

According to him, currently, a series of measures are undertaken in Azerbaijan to ensure traffic safety, prevent accidents and eliminate consequences of these accidents.

At the same time, according to Rajabli, the safe driving is an important issue, although works on improvement of level of professionalism in this field are still at a very low level.

"Therefore, the study of international experience in this field and acquaintance with opinions of international experts are some of the factors that will contribute to elimination of gaps that exist in this area," he added.
