Number of female prisoners cuts in Azerbaijan

The number of women imprisoned in Azerbaijan has decreased by 33 per cent over the year, the deputy chief of the Penitentiary Service of Justice Ministry Huseyn Alikhanov told journalists.

Last year, the number of female prisoners at facility N4 serving sentences reached 450, while currently this number stands at 350, Alikhanov said.

He said juvenile crime also decreased. Compared to last year, the number of juveniles serving sentences has reduced by a half totalling 26.
