'Tolerance is based on historical roots in Azerbaijan'

Tolerance in Azerbaijan is based on its historical roots, chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations Elshad Iskandarov said at a forum entitled 'State and Religion: increased tolerance in a changing world', today.

"Azerbaijan is an ideal place for such events as the country respects people of other religions," he said.

Azerbaijan is the only country that promotes inter-religious and inter-cultural development. Multiculturalism originates from the mentality of the Azerbaijani people, he added.
