Int'l project by Azerbaijan National Assembly of Youth Organizations successfully completed

 «Together we can overcome the obstacles to equal participation» project, organized by National Assembly of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (NAYORA) and the Council of Europe`s European Youth Center Budapest, has been successfully completed. The project involved representatives from 25 European.

The project aimed to increase knowledge and skills of youth who are refugees and IDPs. The project saw the participants conduct the exchange of opinions and put forward proposals on this issue. It also featured discussions with young leaders of NGOs working in this sphere about ways of raising knowledge and skills of young refugees and IDPs. The participants were informed of one million refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan, who were expelled as a result of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

As part of the project, the counselor of Azerbaijan`s Embassy to Hungary Anar Imanov met with its participants. The meeting provided an insight into Azerbaijan`s activities and experience in dealing with migration and refugees. The meeting also featured a question-and-answer session.

The project covered October-December, 2012. Its implementation included a number of international meetings and a series of visits made by NAYORA. The project saw its participants promote the involvement of young refugees, IDPs and asylum seekers in society by sharing experience with youth in their countries.

Also as part of their visit to Budapest, representatives of NAYORA participated in a meeting of Azerbaijani and Hungarian youth at the Azerbaijani Embassy. Ambassador Vilayat Guliyev also attended the event. The meeting marked the founding of Azerbaijan Hungary Youth Union, and the participants elected its Azerbaijani and Hungarian co-chairs and approved its composition. They also discussed prospects for cooperation between the newly formed organization, National Youth Councils of Azerbaijan and Hungary.
