Ecology ministry reports about current condition in rivers

According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry , currently, water richness holds 110-190% of decade norm in Quba-Khachmaz region rivers of Major Caucasus, 55-115% in Minor Caucasus rivers, 30-90% in Lankaran-Astara region rivers, while 50% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.


In the course of last three days, 13cm decrease of water level was issued in Giragkesemen settlement of Kura river. Currently water consumption holds 115 m3/sec in the settlement, i.e 73% of decade norm (in 2011, 150m3/sec, i.e 96% of decade norm).

During the last three days, no change of water level has been observed in Ayrichay settlement of Qanikh river. At present, water consumption holds 64 m3/sec, i.e 83% of decade norm. (in 2011, 95m3/sec, i.e 124% of decade norm).


On December 7, diminution of water level has been observed in the downstream of Kura river. In this regard, 1cm increase of water level has been issued in Surra, Shirvan, Banka settlements of Kura river, and 4cm in Salyan, while 2cm increase of water level has been reported in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.

At present, water level holds 406cm (on December 7, 2011, 568cm) in Surra settlement, 290cm (on December 7, 2011, 456cm ) in Shirvan, 276cm (on December 7, 2011, 427cm) in Salyan, 236cm (on December 7, 2011, 308cm) in Banka, while 187 cm (on December 7, 2011, 293cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
