During the monitoring held by the Azerbaijan agency of World Wildlife Fund, another Caucasian leopard was recorded. Thus, photo-traps installed in Hirkan National Park photographed the leopard on October 25, 2012.
Earlier on Sept. 6, 2012, the first photo of leopard was taken by photo-traps in Zangazur National Park named for Hasan Aliyev during World Wildlife Fund’s Azerbaijan agency’s screening in the territory. These facts are considered real example for the intensification measures for wildlife protection and enlightenment activities in Specially Protected Natural Areas and consequently, informs about the safe condition for the existence of leopard and breeding of its food objects, i.e large hoofed animals (boar goat, mouflon etc.).
"Works done by Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and initiator of IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) environmental campaign, within the “Great five” program covering the protection of 5 endangered fauna species (bear, wolf, gazelle, eagle and leopard) have resulted fruitfully.
It is the result of taken measures that, recently, leopards live in Specially Protected Natural Areas feeling themselves more secure and are observed frequently. "
