Environmental situation in Absheron peninsula mulled

 “Open door” citizen forum on the subject of “Pollution sources and environmental restoration of the lakes in Absheron peninsula” has been held in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources yesterday. Representatives of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, Economic Development and Health Ministries, as well as non-governmental organizations and community members attended the event.

Community members were informed about the measures taken in regard with the contamination sources and environmental renewal of the lakes in Absheron peninsula, also protection of water resources from waste matters by the representatives of state bodies taking part in the “Open door” citizen forum, as well as discussions were held on upcoming issues in this sphere.

Event partakers expressed the importance of preventing the slops and layer liquids from floating to the lakes, precluding the pollution of the lakes and lake surrounds with solid domestic wastes and oil products, as well as clarifying the questions connected with the landlords and declared the expediency of the preparation and implementation of environmental restoration project.

Intensification of mutual co-operation with the purpose of eliminating the problems in the sphere of forestalling the contamination of water reserves and managing the waste waters was noted in the forum, importance of active role of non-governmental organizations and community in this field along with state bodies, and conduction of enlightenment activities among the people was emphasized, as well.
