ANAMA neutralizes over 650 unexploded ammunition

Some 3.489 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in October 2012, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on Wednesday.

As a result of operations 652 unexploded ammunition, 6 antitank mines and 3 antipersonnel mines were found and neutralized.

Some 484 experts and 118 assistants, as well as the six mechanical demining machines and 36 mine-detection dogs participated in the operations.

So far the agency has cleared over 207.194 million square meters of land, found and neutralized 674,759 mines and unexploded ammunition.

ANAMA operates in Agdam, Agstafa, Agjabadi, Fuzuli, Terter, Goygol, Gadabay, Shamkir, Goranboy, Guzdek settlement in the Garadag district of Baku and the territory of mud volcanoes Gildag in Absheron region.

In October, 1 mine/unexploded ammunition case was recorded.
