New municipalities may appear in Azerbaijan

It is planned to establish new municipalities in Azerbaijan. This issue was touched upon at the meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on Regional Affairs when the participants were discussing the draft law on the “Partial changes in the administrative territorial division of some cities and regions”.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee Fettah Heydarov said that new municipalities must be also established in the new administrative districts.

Committee chairman Arif Rahimzadeh supported this idea. Rahimzadeh also added that the establishment of new municipalities in new administrative districts is permitted by the legislation: “If the people put forward such an initiative, it will be realized”.
