
The International Informatics (IOI) Olympiad is one of the most recognized computer science competitions in the world. Four Azerbaijani students led by professor of Baku State University Ramin Mahmudzade and Ismayil Sadiqov, head of information systems of education management department of the Ministry of Education attended the event.
Director of the Institute of Information Technology Rasim Aliguliyev also takes part at the Olympiad.
Students compete on an individual basis, with up to four students competing from each participating country (with around 80 countries). The students compete individually and try to maximize their score by solving a set of informatics problems during two competition days. The problems have been algorithmic programming problems to be solved on a personal computer. Cultural and recreational events are organized on the remaining days.
The Olympiad will run until 30 September 2012.
