Tobacco smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan prevented

An attempt to smuggle tobacco from Iran to Azerbaijan has been foiled, the website of State Border Service reported on Wednesday.

An attempt to cross Azerbaijan-Iran state border was foiled on Tuesday on the territory of Abasali village in Yardimli region.

The intruders left the contraband and escaped back to Iran, taking the advantage of foggy weather conditions. During the observation of the place of incident 5150 packages of Marlboro and Parliament cigarettes of Swiss production have been found and confiscated.

Operative and investigation work is conducted due to the incident.
