
According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, from August 17, water level increased 7 cm in the river of Gudiyalchay of Major Caucasus, 17 cm in Valvalachay, 73 cm in Lankaranchay-Lankaran flowing along the territory of Lankaran-Astara zone, 55 cm in Lankaranchay-Sifidor, 68 cm in Vasharuchay-Dashtatuk as a result of the rains in the country territory.
On August 20-21, the rivers of Balakanchay, Kurmukchay, Agchay, and Hamamchay flowing through the area of the regions of Balakan and Gakh, encountered a short-term flooding. Currently, water richness holds 70-150% of decade norm in the rivers of Guba-Khachmaz zone of Major Caucasus, 105-165% in the rivers of Minor Caucasus, 135-140 in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR, while 510-710% in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara zone.
On August 22, water level rose 11 cm in Giragkasaman settlement of Kura river. At present, water consumption holds 100 m3/sec, i.e. 82% of decade norm (in 2011, 107 m3/sec, 88% of decade norm).
Water level increased 59 cm in Ayrichay settlement of Ganikh river connected with the rains. Currently, water consumption holds 111 m3/sec, i.e. 162% of decade norm (in 201, 96 m3/sec, i.e. 140% of decade norm).
On August 22, decrease of water level was observed in the downstream of Kura river. In this regard, water level fell 6 cm in Surra settlement of Kura river, 7 cm in Shirvan region, 25 cm in Banka settlement, while 2 cm in Novruslu settlement of Aras river. There has been no change of water level in Salyan region.
At present, water level holds 338 cm (On August 22, 2011, 429 cm) in Surra settlement, 205 cm (On August 22, 2011, 302 cm) in Shirvan region, 163 cm (On August 22, 2011, 299 cm) in Salyan region, 223 cm (On August 22, 2011, 239 cm) in Banka settlement, while 110 cm (On August 22, 2011, 158 cm) in Novruslu settlement of Aras river.
