Azerbaijan seeks to expand relations with Russia in education

29 June 2012 [08:40] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan and Russia must expand the relations in secondary education, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Education Gulu Novruzov said at a round table on "Current state of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in the humanitarian sphere", held within the third Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional forum today.

He said that despite the relations between the two countries are rather intensive in higher education, the projects connected with the pupils receiving secondary education, are not at the proper level.

"Today, about 250 representatives of the Azerbaijani youth continue studying in Russia," he said. "Some young people were chosen by the State Student Admission Commission and the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress."

He said that the list of universities approved by the state program for foreign education for 2007 - 2015, includes 55 Russian universities. Up to now, the students have been sent to 90 Russian universities, particularly, in the "engineering" specialty. About 60 Azerbaijani students study in Russia through the state line.
