Summer tourist season opened

Summer tourist season is opened in Azerbaijan.

Last year, the pace of tourism development in the world amounted to 5-6 percent, while in Azerbaijan this figure was 14 percent, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev said at the event dedicated to the opening of the summer tourist season.

He added that the number of tourists arriving to Azerbaijan exceeded two million and amounted to 2 million 134 thousand people for the first time.

"The number hotels exceeded 500 - there are 508 hotels operating in Azerbaijan now," the Minister said.

Today, tourism is developed not only in Baku but also in the regions of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has already formed force, developing the tourism industry, he said.

"Ongoing activities in Azerbaijan show that Azerbaijan is a country that is willing to take a lot of guests and provide services at a high level. Eurovision-2012, held in Azerbaijan should be regarded as an impetus to improve the provision of tourist services," he said.
