
The Press Council of Azerbaijan held a presentation of the award “For Service to Truth”, founded by the Press Council and the Platform Dialogue of Eurasia.
The editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Adalat” (Justice), writer, publicist Ir. Tuncay has been announced the fifth winner of the award for bringing to the wide public of the truths connected with the Turkic world in her “Road Novel”.
Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov spoke of the purposes of establishment of the award “For Service to Truth”. Having told that the Award was founded to estimate work of those who has devoted his life to journalism, as a whole literary creativity, Amashov named the “Road Novel” a work of deep outlook of Ir. Tuncay, her ability to feel events and processes, to see and transfer to readers in the form inherent to her. According to him, the work is a successful sample of the writing of "road notes”, a disappearing genre of national journalism.
The participants of the ceremony, who spoke of professionalism of Ir. Tuncay as a courageous and resolute journalist, have noted that these qualities are vividly demonstrated in all her works and that these works differ with their style and form of expression.
The “Road Novel” where realities of the Turkic world are reflected, includes road notes, impressions and reflections during the writer’s trip on the route Iran-Nakhchivan-Turkey-Georgia.
Then, the award “For Service to Truth” has been handed over to Ir. Tuncay. The representative of the Platform Dialogue of Eurasia on Azerbaijan Mustafa Saatchy said that Ir. Tuncay could reunite all qualities and the values necessary for the creative person in the “Road Novel”. M. Saatchy congratulated Ir. Tuncay, and wished greater successes.
Member of Parliament, writer Agil Abbas spoke of the intention to write his road notes about this travel which has carried out together with the author of the “Road Novel”, but to write in other form and about other moments.
The deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “ Khalg Qazeti” Tahir Aydynoglu, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “525-ci Qazet” Rashad Macid, veteran journalist Mazahir Suleymanzade and others have told about Ir. Tuncay’s art features, advantages of the book, have wished the author successes.
Finally, Ir.Tuncay expressed gratitude to those who helped her with the book edition, to the organizers and participants of presentation.
