No agreement reached on construction of new building for research students

14 June 2012 [09:48] - TODAY.AZ
The final agreement on construction of a new building for research students wasn’t reached, president of Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Mahmud Karimov told APA.

He said that there were definite proposals on construction of a new building for research students: “But when we carefully consider each of them we come across many gaps. The yard of ANAS’s hostel located in Sharifzadeh street is rather suitable for construction. It’s more acceptable variant. The territory is appropriate for the construction of a new building. If the agreement is reached, the building could be constructed in that territory. But we haven’t reached the agreement yet”.

M. Karimov said that the young scientists supported the proposal of the Ministry of Youth and Sport to make 40 years as the age limit: “Now the limit increased so high that 40 years are considered young for us. The academy became aged. The middle age of ANAS is 70. That’s way we may consider 40-year-old scientists as young. I won’t say that the situations became so worse. But this fact gives opportunity to pursue definite considerations”.

According to Karimov, special measures should be taken to make scientist profession more attractive and create stimulating conditions to increase the youth desire: “Their wages must be reconsidered. We should encourage the scientists. There should be the definite perspectives. Everyone conducting scientific research should feel that it will have a positive impact on his or her career”.
