Azeri Prosecutor General meets PACE co-rapporteurs

zerbaijan`s Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov met on Tuesday with co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for Azerbaijan Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Debono Grech.

During the meeting, Zakir Garalov said that Azerbaijan attaches great interest in boosting cooperation with the Council of Europe (CoE). He updated the guests on legislative acts signed by President Ilham Aliyev in modernization of the legal and judicial system.

He also provided information on establishment of regulatory and legal framework for prosecutor`s activity within the reforms.

Mr. Garalov touched upon progress achieved in implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights, especially concrete steps in realization of the National Action Plan (NAP) on Protection of Human Rights in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Expressing their satisfaction on close relationship between PACE and Azerbaijan, co-rapporteurs hailed reforms in law-enforcement system, works done to protect human rights and freedoms. The co-rapporteur stressed PACE supports ongoing democratic processes in Azerbaijan.
