How to get compensation for small-scale damage in road accidents?

The State Insurance Supervision Service under the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan has clarified procedure for regulating small-scale damage to vehicles during a road accident, the Service said on Wednesday.

The State Service informs the public that a certificate from the State Traffic Police for reimbursement is not required in the following cases:

- if no more than two cars were involved in a road accident, and if both cars are insured on compulsory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners;
- if there is no dispute as who is to blame for a road accident;
- if no damage was caused to health as a result of the accident;
- if insurer and insured believe that the damage does not exceed 1,000 manat.

After the new law "On mandatory types of insurance" came into force basic cost of insurance is 50 manat and is accepted in respect of cars with engine capacity up to 1500 cubic centimeters. With increasing engine volume (from 1,500 to 5,000 cubic centimeters) ratios from 1.5 to 5 are used to value. For vehicles with engine capacity more than 5,000 cubic centimeters ratio five is used.

The contract with the owners of vehicles registered abroad and imported to Azerbaijan for transit purposes is concluded for one month.
