The Institute of Archeology and Ethnography at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) announced that items relating to the period of the Girdiman state were found during archaeological excavations in the Charmadil village.
During the studies, there were found about 20 pitcher burials of soldiers belonging to the IV century. Some graves had signs of fire-worship, others - Christianity and some – idolatry, , Shamakhi-Agsu Archeological Expedition group leader Akif Guliyev said.
"In the cemetery, there were revealed the signs of Christianity, idol worship and fire-worship for the first time. This proves the existence of the transitional period,” he noted.
He said there were also discovered items relating to the Oghuz tribes. A warrior found in one of pitcher burials has a cup in one hand and a sword in the other hand. The studies also revealed the Turkish arms. A coat of arms was depicted on seal rings , and it proves once again the connection between Albanian tribes and Turks.
